ENGLAND, UK – Whitley Warriors maintained their challenge at the top of Moralee D1 with a comfortable 6-3 victory at Blackburn Hawks.
Phil Edgar weighed in with a couple of goals as the title favourites handed the Hawks their ninth league defeat in 12 outings this term.
Solway Sharks are still a point in front of the Warriors, but their title hopes suffered a major blow over the weekend.
The Sharks triumphed 5-1 at home to Billingham Stars on Saturday, but were unable to make it a four-point weekend as they fell 9-6 at Solihull Barons the following day.
The Barons had strengthened their grip on a top three place the previous day with a hard fought 7-5 win at Sutton Sting.
Billingham ended their five-game losing streak with a comfortable 10-0 home victory over Nottingham Lions.
Kieran Beach (3) and Richard Haggar (3) were amongst the scorers as Laidler D2 leaders Hull Jets romped to an emphatic 16-1 win at Blackburn Hawks 2.
Bradford Bulldogs remain a point behind the Jets following their 6-5 home victory over Deeside Dragons – Tomas Mitrik (2) led their scoring.
Vlads Vulkanovs (4) was the star of the show as Altrincham Aces continued their upsurge with a 9-4 win at home to Telford Tigers 2.
Widnes Wild split their weekend double-header with Sheffield Senators, winning 9-1 on the road before slipping to a 5-4 defeat in the reverse fixture.
