Nino Niederreiter was traded to the Winnipeg Jets by the Nashville Predators on Saturday for a second-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
The 30-year-old forward, who signed a two-year, $8 million contract ($4 million average annual value) with the Predators on July 21, can become an unrestricted free agent after next season. He has 28 points (18 goals, 10 assists) in 56 games this season.

Selected by the New York Islanders in the first round (No. 5) of the 2010 NHL Draft, Niederreiter has 396 points (199 goals, 197 assists) in 788 regular-season games for the Predators, Carolina Hurricanes, Minnesota Wild and Islanders. He has 30 points (15 goals, 15 assists) in 82 playoff games.
Winnipeg (35-23-1) is second in the Central Division, one point behind the Dallas Stars and one point ahead of the Minnesota Wild.
Nashville (28-22-6), which is fifth in the Central, is seven points behind the Colorado Avalanche for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference.
