NHL daily sweep – 4 October 2015 Blue Jackets breakout the scoring sticks in win

The three-game sweep starts in Las Vegas where the NHL “returned”, well sort, to The Strip.

Los Angeles hosted the Colorado Avalanche Saturday night and the Kings were hardly gracious hosts as they rolled the dice all night in a 4-0 whitewash of the Avs.

Jonathan Quick made 14 saves for the Kings in the win and Reto Berra made 28 saves in the loss for the Avs.NHL Daily Sweep 3

Dustin Brown, Kyle Clifford, Trevor Lewis, and Marian Gaborik scored for LA.

In Anaheim, Corey Perry, Cam Fowler, Hampus Lindholm, Josh Manson and Kevin Bieksa scored for the Ducks in a 5-1 thrashing of the San Jose Sharks.

Frederik Andersen was not busy in net and made 17 saves for the win.

Alex Stalock made 34 saves for San Jose in the loss and the Sharks got their lone goal from Dylan Demelo.

In Toronto, the Maple Leafs had the best of play for the first half of the game but Andreas Athanasiou and Anthony Mantha scored for the Detroit Red Wings in the second period and beat the Leafs, 2-1.

Newly signed Brad Boyes scored the only goal for the Leafs.

Petr Mrazek made 28 saves in the win and was busy keeping his Wings in the game all night.

Jonathan Bernier stopped 13 shots on the night for the loss and was protected most of the night by a Leafs team that back-checked the Wings and kept them to the outside.  The goals were on brief breakdowns with a split defense and errant puck bounce in the Wings’ favor.
