NHL daily sweep – 30 September 2015 Scoring is an issue for Leafs in preseason

The three-game sweep of the NHL preseason starts in Calgary where the Flames blanked the Colorado Avalanche, 2-0.

Jonas Hiller and Karri Ramo combined for 29 saves for the shutout win for the Flames.

In the loss, Calvin Pickard made 30 saves for the Avs.

In Buffalo, Jack Eichel used a burst of speed to score a shorthanded goal for the Sabres as they beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-0.

Evan Rodrigues scored twice and Matt Moulson also added a marker.

Leafs’ starter in net, Jonathan Bernier, made 14 saves on 17 shots through the midpoint of the second period and was relieved by James Reimer who made 14 saves and yielded one goal.

Robin Lehner stopped 24 shots for the shutout for Sabres.

In keeping with the shutout theme for today, the Edmonton Oilers whitewashed the Arizona Coyotes, 4-0.

Anton Lander scored a natural hat trick in the win and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins  added the fourth goal of the night for the Oilers.

Anders Lindback made 28 stops in the loss for the Coyotes who remain winless in the preseason.

The goalie heavy Oilers used Anders Nilsson (11 saves) and Ben Scrivens  (nine saves) to get the win.
