The NHL preseason rolled on Thursday night with a few surprises including a 6-0 drubbing of the Dallas Stars by the St Louis Blues.
Brian Elliott made 22 saves in the win and Vladimir Tarasenko and Paul Stastny scored two goals each.
Kari Lehtonen was in the Stars’ net for the entire game and made 24 saves in the loss.
Petteri Lindbohm and Joel Edmunson also had scores for the Blues.
The three-game sweep continues to Detroit where the Red Wings easily handled the Pittsburgh Penguins in a 6-1 thrashing.
Dylan Larkin and Teemu Pulkkinen had two goals apiece and Jimmy Howard played the full 60 minutes in making 34 saves.
There were no substitutes for the Penguins in net as Matthew Murray made 21 saves in his night’s efforts.
The tightest match of the night went on in Denver as the Avalanche fell 1-0 to the visiting Calgary Flames.
Joni Ortio made 35 saves in the winning effort for the Flames.
The only goal of the game came off the stick of Josh Jooris who potted the winner midway through the first period.
Reto Berra made 24 saves in the Avs’ net and took the loss.
