NHL daily sweep – 24 September 2015

In Buffalo Wednesday night, the Sabres hosted the Ottawa Senators in a preseason tilt.

The Sens benefited from goals from five different skaters in a 5-2 road win.  Max McCormick, Alex Chiasson, Zack Stortini, Mika Zibanejad, and Ryan Dzingel scored for Ottawa who had easy time of it in this game.

NHL Daily Sweep 3For Ottawa, Matthew O’Connor got the start in net made 18 saves; he was relieved by Chris Driedger who yielded two goals on 24 shots.

Robin Lehner and Andrey Makarov split duties in the Sabres’ net.

In Detroit, Tomas Tatar had a hat trick in a 4-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Justin Abdelkader had the other goal for the Wings.  Former Blackhawk Brad Richards had three assists on the night.

Detroit’s net was shared by Petr Mrazek who made 16 saves Jared Coreau, who made 15 saves on 16 shots on the night.

In the Hawks’ net Corey Crawford gave up one goal on just eight shots and Michael Leighton made 14 saves on 16 shots; Tartar’s third goal came in an empty net.

In Edmonton, the Oilers’ Matt Hendricks scored on a penalty shot at 17:48 of the third period to lift Edmonton to a 3-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets.

Hendricks was hauled down on a breakaway and his penalty effort beat Jets goalie Eric Comrie for the game-winner.

Justin Schultz and Jordan Eberle also scored for the Oilers.

Ben Chiarot and Adam Lowry had goals for Winnipeg.

Cam Talbot played the entire game for the Oilers in net and made 30 stops for the win.
