The three-game sweep starts in Minneapolis, where the Wild thumped the Buffalo Sabres, 6-1. It was a thrashing across the board as the Wild outshot Buffalo, 42-11.
The Wild got goals from Jason Zucker, Tyler Graovac, Zach Parise, Nino Niederreiter,
Zac Dalpe and Thomas Vanek.
Devan Dubnyk made 10 saves in the win and was hardly tested in the evening’s effort.
Tim Schaller scored the lone Sabres goal and Chad Johnson took the loss on 36 saves.
In Anaheim John Gibson made 20 saves through two periods and was relieved by Anton Khudobin in the third who added 11 saves in a 3-0 Anaheim Ducks shutout of the Colorado Avalanche.
Gibson left the game reportedly due to illness.
Shawn Horcoff and Mike Santorelli scored early in the first and Carl Hagelin added an empty netter for Anaheim.
Semyon Varlamov stopped 30 shots in the loss.
In Edmonton, the Oilers suffered their first loss of the preseason at the hands of the Vancouver Canucks who were led on offense by Bo Horvat’s two goals and Sven Baertschi’s four assists.
Ben Hutton, Yannick Weber and Jake Virtanen added markers for the Canucks.
Edmonton got goals from Taylor Hall and Nail Yakupov.
Cam Talbot took the loss in making 24 saves on the night and Jacob Markstrom had 21 on the night for the win.
