Annapolis,MD: In the first of two games at McMullen Arena in Annapolis, Maryland, it was the Naval Academy’s D2 women defeating the D2 women of Michigan State University.
In the tightly contested match, it was the goaltending that kept it close. Navy’s Shannon Hart stopped all 40 shots she faced. Michagan State’s Katelyn Cygal stopped 19 of 21 shots fired her way.
One minute into the second period it was Navy’s Maggie Schillinger gettin an even strength goal with an assist from Taylor Sparks. It was Schillinger again in the third period with a power play goal with 14:53 remaining in the game. Lauren Power and Kelly Hughes had the helpers on the final goal of the game.
