BRAMPTON, ON – Zach Nastasiuk scored twice and Jake Paterson picked up his fourth shutout of the season as the Walleye dominated the Beast 6-0 Saturday night in Brampton. Toledo has an overall record of 28-7-0-1 and is 16-5-0-0 on the road.
Toledo jumped into the lead when Nolan Zajac wristed in a shot for his 7th goal of the season from the left circle at 15:28 of the first period. Toledo led 1-0 after the first with 9-7 shot advantage. The Walleye started to pull away from Brampton in the second period with three goals.
The first came off of the stick of Alden Hirschfeld when he backhanded in a rebound for his 11th of the season at 5:13 of the period. Nastasiuk sent the puck in front that deflected in at 12:49 for his 4th of the year to open up a 3-0 lead. The final goal of the period came from Mathew Santos (4th of the season) as he sent a wrist shot between the pads of Zachary Fucale at 14:00. Fucale’s night was done after that goal as he was replaced by Andrew D’Agonstini.
Just 2:40 into the third period, the Walleye pushed the lead to 5-0 as J.P. Lafontaine scored his first Walleye goal. The final goal came from Nastasiuk at 9:14 of the third when he was left alone in front of the Brampton net for a slam dunk.
Walleye Notes:Â Goaltender Jake Paterson stopped all 23 shots he face and his overall record of 18-5-0-1 this season… Toledo is 4-1-0 vs. Brampton this season.
