Nashville sprint past Stars in 5-2 win

In Dallas Tuesday, the Nashville Predators started Juuse Saros net who promptly made 43 saves to backstop the Preds to a 5-2 win over the Stars.

Kyle Turris, who has seamlessly meshed into the Preds’ lineup, had a goal and assist  and  Calle JarnkrokKevin FialaCody McLeod, and Pontus Aberg scored for Nashville.

“I think we’re finding our stride,” Ekholm said of the offense. “We have a lot of fun coming to the rink, and I’m thinking we’re playing pretty good and we’re getting the wins, and that’s the most important thing.”

The loss snapped a six-game streak for the Stars who dropped to 16-11-1.

“We just didn’t have it tonight, and we’re going to move on,” Dallas’ Jamie Benn said.

The Preds built a 5-0 lead before the Stars found any offense.

Stephen Johns (early) and Jamie Oleksiak (late) had the strikes for the Stars in the third period after the game was already lost.

“It was unfortunate that last one goes in on the redirect,” Preds head coach Peter Laviolette said. “It’s really a nothing play. He could’ve walked away with [40-plus] shots on net and a one-goal-against performance. That’s pretty impressive.”

Ben Bishop tarted the game and made 12 saves and yielded three goals before getting the hook in the middle frame.

“We had no energy this morning, and we had less tonight. So I’m not sure why. Something we’re going to have to think about, but we did not handle it well at all,” Dallas head coach Ken Hitchcock said of his team’s effort in the loss. “Still, in saying that, we had 45 shots on goal, a ton of scoring chances, 21 shots in the second period, but the people you count on, you’ve got to count on. That’s just the way it is.”

Kari Lehtonen relieved Bishop and made 15 saves in the loss.
