WHEELING, WV – The Wheeling Nailers, ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, announced the team has re-signed defenseman Marc-Olivier Duquette to a contract for the 2020-21 season.
Duquette began the 2019-20 season with the Fort Wayne Komets, before he was traded to the Nailers on Oct. 26. The 22-year-old finished the year with seven points (2 goals-5 assists) in 43 games.
Prior to turning pro, the St-Louis-de-Gonzeau, Quebec native played parts of five seasons of junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, as he suited up with the Gatineau Olympiques and Drummondville Voltigeurs. During his three seasons with the Voltigeurs, Duquette amassed 70 points (l4 goals-56 assists) in 186 games, while he improved his plus/minus rating from minus-15 to plus-33 from year one to year three.
