MELBOURNE, Australia – With the Australian Ice Hockey League season winding down, it was a big weekend to keep playoff hopes alive for the Melbourne Mustangs and Adelaide Adrenaline.
The issue become one of not getting nearly enough points earlier in the season to make a push though.
With 27 games played, the Mustangs find themselves outside looking in now with 38 points, seven back of the Canberra Brave.
Adelaide are just one back of Melbourne with37 points in 26 matches.
Disappointingly, the Sydney Ice Dogs remain winless on the ladder with 24 losses with no points in the ladder.
In the two-game set this weekend, the Mustangs took Saturday’s match while the Adrenaline returned Sunday for an OT win.
