CHARLOTTE, NC – The Carolina Hurricanes have called up goaltender Mike Murphy from the Checkers. This means John Muse a rookie goalie from ECHL affiliate Florida Everblades had been recalled to Charlotte.
This is Murphy’s first call up to the Canes; it is on an emergency basis. Hurricanes goalie Brian Boucher injured his lower-body during practice on Monday. In fifteen games for the Checkers this season Murphy, 22 is 9-5-0 with a 2.44 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage.
Muse has played 10 games with the Everblades this season with a 5-3-2 record. This is the second time Muse has been recalled to the Checkers this season; he backed up for four games during October.
Other news-Mike McKenzie, the Checkers forward has agreed upon a mutual release from his player’s standard contract.
Charlotte faces Texas Stars and San Antonio Rampage on the road this week before returning home for the visit of the Chicago Wolves on Thursday December 15.
