Motte and the Americans shut out Wichita 4-0

WICHITA, Kan. – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, defeated the Wichita Thunder by a score of 4-0 on Saturday night in front of a packed house.

Spencer Asuchak scored his first of the season in the opening period, and Braylon Shmyr added his first of the season in the second for Allen. Dante Saliuro had a goal and a pair of assists for the Americans, while CJ Motte stopped all 35 shots he faced to earn the shutout win.

“The boys came to play tonight,” said Spencer Asuchak. “All three lines played hard and our defense was great in front of CJ Motte. This was a big win for us after a poor performance last night.”

Allen went 0 for 1 on the power play, while Wichita was 0 for 7. Zach Pochiro had the first shorthanded goal of the season for the Americans, scoring his first of the season.

This was the first of three straight between the two clubs. The teams will play back to back next Friday and Saturday.

The Americans home opener is next Saturday against Wichita for Pink in the Rink Night in Allen. Call 972-912-1000 for tickets or visit the Allen Event Center Box Office.
