Moose snap skid, double-up Rampage, 4-2

WINNIPEG, Man.  – A hat trick from rookie forward Kyle Connor lifted the Manitoba Moose (20-27-3-4) over the San Antonio Rampage (21-28-4-1) 4-2 on Saturday night at MTS Iceplex.

Forward A.J. Greer recorded his 14th goal of the season and earned the Third Star of the Game. Defenseman Sergei Boikov contributed one goal and one assist en route to his third multiple-point night of the season. Forward Gabriel Bourque’s first-period assist was the 100th helper of his professional career.

The Rampage opened the scoring when Greer netted a dropped pass from Mike Sislo and Boikov 4:07 into the first. Manitoba evened the score when Connor connected on a wraparound goal from behind the net at the 9:41 mark. A late power-play goal from Boikov, with assists from Bourque and Anton Lindholm, 18:14 into the frame gave the Rampage their second of the night, extending San Antonio’s lead to 2-1 after 20 minutes of play. The Silver and Black held the Moose to two shots in the period, while collected a season-high 23 shots on goal.

A quick pair of goals early in the second frame gave Manitoba its first lead of the night. Connor registered his second of the evening at 3:26, while JC Lipon tallied the eventual game winner at 4:34.

Connor completed his first-professional Hat Trick with an unassisted empty-net goal with 51 seconds remaining in the game, solidifying a 4-2 Manitoba victory.
