CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Stars were defeated by Manitoba 3-1 in front of 4,220 fans on Tuesday night at Cedar Park Center. Manitoba goalie Eddie Lack (8-6-2) stopped 39 of 40 shots, including all 19 Texas shots in the third period to preserve the 3-1 victory. Manitoba center Marco Rosa scored 7:57 into the third period, breaking a 1-1 tie, as the Moose snapped a four-game winless skid. Stars right wing Greg Rallo scored the lone Texas goal in the first period. Texas goalie Tyler Beskorowany (2-4-0) stopped 30 of 32 shots for the loss.
The Moose started the scoring 12:14 into the first period with a power-play goal by right wing Victor Oreskovich, who poked in a rebound in the Stars crease for his fourth of the year. The goal was set up by defensemen Lee Sweatt and Mark Flood giving Manitoba the 1-0 lead. Texas answered back with 31 seconds remaining in the opening period. Right wing Greg Rallo scored his ninth goal of the season at 19:29, tying the game 1-1. Center Travis Morin and left wing Francis Wathier both put up assists.
After a scoreless second period, Manitoba pushed ahead with a goal by center Marco Rosa at 7:57 in the third period. Rosa snapped a wrist shot from the high-slot in the Texas zone, beating Beskorowany glove side for his third goal of the year. Rosa’s marker was set up by defensemen Travis Ramsey and Mark Flood, providing the Moose with a 2-1 lead. The Moose sealed the win with an empty-net goal by center Mario Bliznak with eight seconds left. Goalie Eddie Lack offered the assist for the 3-1 final.
The Stars travel to San Antonio to face the Rampage on Friday, December 17th at 7:00 pm. Texas will then return home to host the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7:00 pm on Saturday, December 18th at Cedar Park Center.
