In Pittsburgh, Anthony Richard and Josh Anderson scored in the third for Montreal and the Canadiens downed the Penguins, 6-4 on Tuesday night. 
The two teams had streaky nights with the Habs ending it on the two-goal burst in the third.
“To win after a long stretch like that is always good for the team,” Richard said. “We have a day off tomorrow in Florida, it’s huge for the momentum for the rest of the [three-game road] trip and the rest of this season to beat a solid team like that.”
Sam Montembeault made 39 saves for Montreal in the win.
The Canadiens moved to 27-35-6 after snapping a seven-game schneid.
The night started quickly for the Pens with Jake Guentzel scoring for a 1-0 lead in the first, and Evgeni Malkin adding a power play goal for a 2-0 advantage.
The Canadiens then reeled of four straight to take a 4-2 lead after the first period.
Mike Hoffman and Jesse Ylonen scored to tie the game, 2-2.
“We had a tough first [period] yesterday, but after that, I felt like we didn’t hide,” Montreal coach Martin St. Louis said. “It’s not like we had a lot of time to think about last night’s game. We just had to try to get better as the game went on last night and try to carry that into tonight.”
Denis Gurianov and Joel Edmundson then added another pair of goals for the Canadiens for a 4-2 advantage,.
“I think we just didn’t hit the panic button,” Montreal’s Justin Barron said. “Obviously, they scored two quick early. We kind of built our game up shift after shift.”
Pittsburgh got even in the middle frame with a pair of goals to send the game to the third period tied, 4-4.
“It just wasn’t good enough,” said Penguins forward Jason Zucker, who had a four-game goal streak end. “No answers, but we’ve got to figure it out. It’s not good enough.”
Kris Letang trimmed the deficit to 4-3, and Guentzel hit for his second of the night, off the power play, to get even, 4-4.
Tristan Jarry got the start for the Penguins and yielded four foals gals and made three saves before getting the hook in the second intermission.
Casey DeSmith made 13 saves in he third third period.
“He’s fine from a health standpoint,” Pittsburgh coach Mike Sullivan said of Jarry. “We’re just trying to get him up to speed here on the fly. It’s a bit of a challenge. We’re working at it.”
