Monsters stun IceHogs, 5-1

The Lake Erie Monsters continued their dominance over the Rockford IceHogs on Thursday as they won, 5-1, to take a 2-0 series lead.

With all the support on the offense, goalie Joonas Korpisalo made 24 saves to backstop the Monsters.

The IceHogs took an early lead on a goal from Ryan Hartman.

Lake Erie left no doubt on the outcome of the game when they scored three goals to open the middle frame and deflate the IceHogs and their fans.

The three goals came just as the second period crossed over four minutes of elapsed time.

Oliver Bjorkstrand and Lukas Sedlak were part of the offensive push along with Anderson.

Rockford’s Mac Carruth took the loss on 34 saves.

The series now switches to Cleveland
