The Cleveland Monsters fell to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins (36-13-3-2) 3-2 on Friday night at Rocket Arena. 
With the loss, the Monsters are now 28-17-6-1 and are currently in third place in the AHL’s North Division standings.
The Penguins’ Atley Calvert opened the scoring at 6:44 and Ville Koivunen added another at 7:29 giving Wilkes-Barre a 2-0 lead to end the first. Cleveland’s Luca Del Bel Belluz capitalized on the power play to give the Monsters their first tally at 11:15 in the second period with helpers from Luca Marrelli and Brendan Gaunce but Wilkes-Barre’s Aidan McDonough tacked on another to make it 3-1 through two. he Monsters’ Guillaume Richard added a tally at 1:15 of the third assisted by Dysin Mayo and Zach Aston-Reese to make the final score 3-2 Penguins.
Cleveland’s Zach Sawchenko stopped 23 shots in the loss while Wilkes-Barre Scranton’s Joel Blomqvist made 22 saves for the win.
