Monsters down Hershey, lead series 2-0

Hershey was far too hospitable to the Lake Erie Monsters this week.  Lake Erie is heading home to Cleveland with a 2-0 series lead in the Calder Cup Final.

Anton Forsberg was once again solid in the Monsters’ net with 27 saves as in a 5-3 win.

Most impressive is the Monsters record this post season, 13-2, and they are now on home ice with a chance to clinch.Lake Erie Monsters logo

Oliver Bjorkstrand scored two goals to lead the Lake Erie offense.

Zach Werenski scored the first power play goal for the Monsters in the Final early in the first period.

The first period ended with the Monsters holding a 3-1 lead.

In the third period, the Bears struck for two goals after Lake Erie made it 4-1 early on.

Daniel Zaar finished the game with empty netter.

Zach Sill, Tyler Lewington and Liam O’Brien scored for Hershey.

Justin Peters took the loss on 24 saves.

The Calder Cup Final now moves to Cleveland for three games starting Monday at Quicken Loans Arena (7 p.m. ET, AHL Live).
