SAN ANTONIO  – The San Antonio Rampage (24-31-8-0) wrapped up a five-game homestand with a 4-2 loss to the Lake Erie Monsters (32-19-5-5) in front of 8,222 at the AT&T Center on Sunday. Garry Nunn tallied a goal and an assist to earn the Second Star of the Game.Lake Erie Monsters logo

The Monsters got on the board first, as Daniel Zaar’s no-look pass landed on the tape of Lukas Sedlak, who beat Reto Berra to make it 1-0 at 8:56. Josh Anderson extended Lake Erie’s lead to two with time winding down in the period, collecting a pass from Markus Hannikainen and wristing a shot just under the crossbar with 24 seconds remaining in the opening period.

Early in the second period, Sonny Milano sent a cross-crease pass to Oliver Bjorkstrand, who tapped the puck past Berra to make it 3-0, but the Rampage answered with Brandon Gormley’s second of the season, a shorthanded tally at 7:36 to make it 3-1 in favor of the Monsters.

T.J. Tynan’s marker at 12:43 of the frame gave the visiting team a 4-1 lead and prompted a change in goal, as Roman Will entered the game to replace Berra. Just over a minute later, Garry Nunn recorded his first goal of the season – and his first AHL marker – to cut San Antonio’s deficit to two heading into the second intermission.

The Silver and Black came out strong in the final frame, putting 16 shots on net and outshooting the Monsters 16-7 in the period, but were unable to light the lamp, falling 4-2.

San Antonio was scoreless on four power-play opportunities while holding the Monsters scoreless on five chances with the man advantage. Will saved all 12 of the shots he faced in relief of Berra, who made 17 saves on 21 shots.
