Moncton wins 4-0 over Drummondville

QUEBEC CITY P.Q. — The Moncton Wildcats scored one goal in the first, one in the second and two in the third enroute to a shutout over Drummondville. Gabriel Bourque scored two goals, one with a two-man advantage to lead the Moncton offensive. Moncton opened the scoring on their third power play opportunity. Gabriel Bourque completed a great play from Nicholas Deschamps and Kelsey Tessier at 8:51.

Entering the offensive zone, Moncton defenseman Mark Barberio took a wrist shot that found its way behind Drummondville netminder Jake Allen for the Wildcats second goal of the game 6:02 into the second period.

Allen faced 39 shots making 35 saves while on the other end of the ice, Nicola Riopel closed the door on the Voltigeurs offense making 34 saves.

Cole McMillan (6:06) and Bourque (9:59) scored his second of the game (power play) to finish off the scoring for the Wildcats with the team’s third and fourth goals of the game. Christopher DiDominico one of the best players for the Voltigeurs in this series was left on the bench by his coach Mario Duhamel after first period.

“In the game Yesterday “DiDo” gave a reasonable performance,” said the Voltigeurs head coach after the game. “Tonight in the first period he didn’t seem to have his legs. In the second he began to play very good…Why he didn’t have his legs in third is something you should ask him.” When asked if his players missed some energy in tonight’s game, Duhamel replied, “No, I don’t think so. I think we didn’t execute properly. We really have to work hard for something to happen because we missed our executions. Maybe that’s why it looked like we missed some energy but it wasn’t the case. “Honestly we knew Moncton would come out very strong in the first period but we came out of it only trailing by one. They scored their goal at the end of a five-on-three. For me, we were able to weather the storm. We came out in the second with good rhythm. We have to give credit to Moncton, they blocked lots of shots.” Losing Game Four puts Drummondville in a must win situation for Game Five on Friday night at home. On the other end, winning Game Five means the Voltigeurs will go back to Moncton to play Game Six. Goaltenders Drummondville Voltigeurs: Jake Allen 39 shots 35 saves
