GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (13-9-2-0), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, and the Manchester Monarchs (15-8-1-1) were unable to finish Thursday night’s game in Greenville due to unsafe playing conditions at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The two teams will play the remaining five minutes and 45 seconds from Thursday’s game at 7 p.m. on Friday night, December 15th.
The Swamp Rabbits will also play the originally scheduled Teddy Bear Toss game at approximately 7:45 p.m. following the conclusion of the suspended contest. Doors will open at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena at 6 p.m. and warm-ups will begin promptly at 6:29 p.m. The final moments of Thursday’s game between the Swamp Rabbits and Monarchs will pick up where they left off. Greenville held a 4-2 lead when play was stopped.
Priorto the stoppage, Manchester had earned a 2-0 lead after one period on goals by Matt Buckles (3rd of the season) at the 5:38 mark of the opening frame and Jordan LaVallee-Smotherman (11th) with just 36 seconds left before the first intermission.
The host Swamp Rabbits rebounded in the second to tie the game. Allan McPherson netted his tenth goal of the season 5:14 into the middle stanza before Branden Troock, who had set up McPherson’s tally, was on the receiving of a feed from McPherson and scored his 14th at the 7:35 mark.
McPherson picked up his second of the game and 11th of the year 1:53 into the third period with Troock again posting the primary assist. Joe Houk’s 7th goal at 6:42 of the final frame put Greenville up by two before the game was later halted.
Greenville goalie Brandon Halverson made 28 saves on 30 Manchester shots before the game was stopped while Monarchs netminder Charles Williams posted 21 saves up to the point of the suspension of play.
Fans who have tickets for the December 14, 2017 game may redeem those tickets at the Arena Box Office for the best available tickets in the same price category for the December 15, 2017 game. Any fans holding INDIVIDUAL GAME suite tickets from the 12/14/17 game may redeem those tickets at the Box Office for tickets in the BLUE price category. Tickets from 12/14/17 MAY ONLY BE REDEEMED FOR TICKETS to the 12/15/17 game.
Manchester and Greenville will hit the ice for the eighth annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by Bon Secours after an intermission to condition the ice. From that point on, fans will be able to throw their stuffed animals onto the ice after the Swamp Rabbits first goal of the SECOND game. Fans are advised to HOLD their stuffed animals until AFTER the conclusion of the game at 7 p.m.
