MANCHESTER, N.H. – Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced today that Matt Leitner has signed a Standard Player Contract for the 2017-18 season.
The Monarchs are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Los Angeles Kings.
Leitner, 26, returns to Manchester after posting 53 points for the Monarchs on 14 goals and 39 assists in 51 games. Leitner added 22 points on eight goals and 14 assists during the Monarchs run to the Eastern Conference Finals in last season’s Kelly Cup Playoffs.
In his career, the 5-foot-9, 185-pound native of Los Alamitos, Calif., has played 102 ECHL games, recording 102 points in that stretch on 26 goals and 76 assists. Leitner has also played 33 career AHL games for the Milwaukee Admirals, Ontario Reign and Springfield Thunderbirds, where he has recorded nine assists.
Leitner played collegiately at Minnesota State University-Mankato where he scored 162 points on 49 goals and 113 assists over the course of four seasons. During his senior campaign, Leitner was named to the First All-American Team (West).
