Miller sends Rangers to 4-3 win over Vancouver in OT Miller scores in OT to extend Rangers road success

In Vancouver, K’Andre Miller scored with 1:12 left in extra time to give the New York Rangers a 4-3 win over the Canucks on Saturday.

It was the fourth straight win on the road for the Rangers, who close out a five-game trip in Winnipeg on Monday.

“It’s always good to get the first one out of the way,” Miller said. “We’re really starting to get our stride and really starting to figure out our systems and it’s all come into play, and we’re feeling really good about ourselves.”

Igor Shesterkin made 30 saves in the win. He was busy in the extra session with six saves.

“’Shesty’ made a couple of unbelievable saves,” Miller said.

Artemi Panarin snapped home a power play goal near the midway point of the firt period, it was a two-skater power play at the time.

The Rangers were 3-for-5 with the extra skater on the night.

“We’ve played together for some time and when things are clicking, when you’re scoring, obviously you get confidence from that,” Zibanejad said of the power play. “We know what we’re capable of doing and just got to keep going.”

J.T. Miller tied the game at 1-1 at 15:55 of the first.

Tyler Myers gave the Canucks a 2-1 lead on a shorthanded strike at 9:06 of the third period.

“I thought we played a really solid game tonight as a group.” Myers said. “I didn’t think we gave them much. I thought we played very sound structurally, and I thought it was one of our most complete games.”

Adam Fox tied it on a power play goal off a tip in at the crease on a pass from Panarin.

“A lot of back and forth,” Zibanejad said. “Obviously, giving up one right away on that power play and then coming back and scoring two, that was big for us. It was, I would say, a crazy third period. Probably fun to watch and nice one to win.”

Zibanejad then hit for his first of the season at 13:24 for a 3-2 lead to New York.

“I do think there was good resilience. We had to climb back from being down and then even being tied up late,” Rangers coach Peter Laviolete said. “Good ending for us, but it’s just a night that was dominated by special teams and kind of some odd stuff that we had to deal with throughout the course of the game, but I liked the fact that we stayed in it and kept battling.”

Vancouver tied it at 15:42 of the period on a strike by Carson Soucy  to force the extra session.

“We’ve got a resilient group,” the Canucks Quinn Hughes said.

Casey DeSmith made 20 saves in the loss.

“On a back-to-back usually we come out flat,” Hughes said. “When we get tired in the second or third, mistakes kick in. There was none of that. I thought we were, you know, pretty solid tonight. It’s a good team over there.”
