The Vancouver Canucks opened the season with four straight wins and had not been able to reproduce that feat until recent weeks when they had reeled off five straight victories.
On Friday night, Ryan Miller made 44 saves to help the Canucks win their sixth straight, 4-2, over the Calgary Flames.
“We definitely take the win but it’s not good enough,” forward Loui Eriksson said. “Too many shots and too many scoring chances. [Miller] came up big for us again and we owe him.”
Eriksson and Michael Chaput had goals for the Canucks..
Markus Granlund scored twice in the win.
The problem from the game? The Canucks were outshot 46-13 in the match.
“We won’t make the playoffs playing like that,” coach Willie Desjardins said.
The Flames will get a chance at retribution when the two teams match up in Calgary Saturday night.
“We didn’t play the way we wanted to play but sometimes when you can win without your best stuff it is good, too,” Desjardins said.
Michael Frolik scored early in the First period for the Flames and again late in the third to cut the deficit to 4-2.
“Sometimes a goalie can steal the game,” Calgary coach Glen Gulutzan said. “We made some mistakes that gave them some pretty good chances at critical times.”

Brian Elliot took the loss on nine saves.
“Look at their goals. I know the shot totals weren’t in their favor. Tip-ins, deflections, you can’t blame your goalie on those. I thought he played well. It was one of those nights,” Calgary’s Mark Giordano said after the loss.
