CINCINNATI – Michigan’s CCM line of JT Compher, Kyle Connor and Tyler Motte had been held down for the 60 minutes of regulation, but come overtime, the Wolverines’ vaunted trio came alive.
Motte scored the overtime winner after Compher fed the puck across the Notre Dame net to Motte streaking in at the back post. The Wolverines, seeded No. 2 in the Midwest Regional, will play North Dakota in Saturday’s final.
Justin Selman had given Michigan a 1-0 lead in the first period, but Notre Dame came back to tie the game on Anders Bjork’s wrist shot over Steve Racine’s right shoulder. The Fighting Irish took the lead when Thomas DiPauli beat Racine.
Zach Werenski tied the game for Michigan midway through the third period to force the overtime.
