WICHITA, KS — The Missouri Mavericks defeated the Wichita Thunder 8-2 at INTRUST Bank Arena Saturday night, clinching the Visit Independence, Visit Wichita Cup.
With only one more game to play in the Visit Independence, Visit Wichita Cup, the Mavericks clinched the cup with a current record of 8-4-1 against Wichita.
It was all Mavericks in this one as six different players scored goals to stamp the victory. Dane Fox led all skaters with two goals and two assists. Rocco Carzo also had two goals on the evening and Jesse Graham, Jacob Doty, Radoslav Illo and Shawn Pauly each scored once.
Zach O’Brien tallied two goals for the Thunder. Drew Owlsey and Scott Greenham split action in the loss as Owlsey let in five goals, to take the loss.
Mavericks rookie net minder, Zach Nagelvoort, picked up his first professional victory in his first start. Nagelvoort made 31 saves in his Mavericks debut.
The Mavericks are back in action on home ice on Sunday, April 2 at 4:05 p.m. to take on the Wichita Thunder.
