INDEPENDENCE, MO – Today the Missouri Mavericks announce the addition of retired Maverick Kyle Hood as Assistant Coach for the 2016-17 season. Head Coach John-Scott Dickson remarked to the press that bringing Hood back is another piece in the puzzle to building a team that shares the overall team approach, and that he is “very excited to have Kyle on board.” Additionally, the team announced that former Maverick Matt Stephenson would be taking on a larger role in Hockey Operations, though details of that role have not been confirmed yet.
Hood is a 32 year-old native of Osoyoos, British Columbia. He played for the Missouri Mavericks for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 season, and played for five seasons prior to that with the Arizona Sundogs. Hood left the Mavericks in December of 2013 to start a career outside of hockey.

Hood played the vast majority of his career in the CHL, with the exception of a two game stint in the ECHL with the Colorado Eagles. He was a right-handed defenseman who had a -6 +/- rating his last full season with the Mavericks. He attended and played for the Ohio State University, where he majored in Family Resource Management.
Hood was traded to the Missouri Mavericks by the Arizona Sundogs on December 13th 2012, played the remainder of the season, then returned to the Mavericks for the 2013-14 Mavericks season where he then retired from Hockey to return to British Columbia.
