Martin, Seattle crack Bruins’ home run

Really, this should not be a surprise any longer.

In Boston, the Seattle Kraken handed the Bruins their first regulation home loss, 3-0, on Thursday night.

Martin Jones made 27 saves for the shutout.

“I thought we did a really, really good job,” Jones said. “We blocked shots, we picked up sticks, we cleared pucks out. That was probably the biggest thing; we were really, really strong in front of our net tonight.”

The Kraken improved to 25-12-4, and won their seventh straight match.

Brandon Tanev gave the Kraken a 1-0 lead in the first period.

“I was hoping for the best,” Tanev said. “I know [Sprong is] a great shooter, so you can just park yourself in front of the net and hopefully you can deflect one in, and I was fortunate enough for that to happen.”

The Bruins dropped to 32-5-4.

“We weren’t a second late, we were two seconds late on everything,” Boston coach Jim Montgomery said. “We just couldn’t see the plays that were there to be made all night. We’re not happy with how we played.”

Seattle is a gaudy 15-4-2 on the road.

“It’s been fun,” Kraken forward Jordan Eberle said. “This has been a long road trip; it’s made it a lot easier when we’ve swept it so far. We’re a close-knit group, we have fun together, we win together, and I don’t think there’s really anyone in that locker room that really cares about the acknowledgement. It’s just a team mentality.”

Eeli Tolvanen extended the lead to 2-0 in the middle frame.

“I think it just took us a while to get to our game, if it even got there,” Boston defenseman Charlie McAvoy said. “They came in and played well, but we just didn’t do enough for 60 minutes.”

Jaden Schwartz potted an empty net goal for the 3-0 final.

Linus Ullmark made 28 saves n the Bruins rare loss.

“I don’t think [Seattle] surprised us,” Ullmark said. “They’re a good team, we know their record on the road as well, and their game speaks for itself. I thought it was a good hockey game. It’s a game of inches. Sometimes you have them, sometimes you don’t.”
