SAN ANTONIO – Ben Street notched two points in his long-awaited return to the lineup, and Spencer Martin recorded a shutout for the second time in three games to lead the San Antonio Rampage (27-33-8-0) to a 3-0 win over the Bakersfield Condors (27-24-6-2) in front of 6,281 at the AT&T Center on Saturday night. The Rampage captain tallied a
goal and an assist to earn the First Star of the Game, and Martin finished with 37 saves on 37 shots, earning the Second Star of the Game. Maxim Noreau chipped in a power-play goal, his team-leading eighth of the season, to pick up the Third Star of the Game.
Nick Drazenovic, who made his return to the lineup after missing nine games with an injury, got the Rampage on the board early, taking a drop pass from Joey Hishon and firing a shot past Eetu Laurikainen to make it 1-0. The Silver and Black outshot the Condors 14-5 in the first 20 minutes of play and carried a one-goal lead into the first intermission.
San Antonio capitalized on two power-play opportunities early in the second period, the first coming off the stick of Maxim Noreau, whose tally set a new franchise record for power-play goals in a season by a defenseman. Street, who was skating in his first game for San Antonio since Oct. 31, buried the biscuit to make it 3-0, a lead the Silver and Black held into the second break.
Bakersfield put 21 shots on Martin’s net in the final frame, tying a season high for shots allowed in a period by the Rampage, but Martin made stops on each one to secure a 3-0 win.
The Silver and Black were a perfect 2-for-2 on the power play while holding the Condors scoreless on four opportunities with the man advantage.
