Marlies Top Senators In Battle Of Ontario

The Toronto Marlies topped the Belleville Senators 5-1 on Friday night. The Marlies are now 6-1-0-0 against the Senators this season.

The Marlies got off to a great start. Late in the first period, Joseph Blandisi stripped his man of the puck then went the other way to beat Senators goaltender Mads Sogaard for his third of the season. Just a few minutes later, Blandisi tallied his fourth of the year, thanks to a great pass from Mac Hollowell.

In the second frame, Mikhail Abramov set up Bobby McMann with a great pass to extend the Marlies lead to three. The Marlies took a 3-0 lead into the second intermission.

In the final frame, Antti Suomela capitalized on the rebound from a Brett Seney shot to make it 4-0. The Senators managed to get one past Erik Källgren late in the third. Källgren stopped 31 of the 32 shots he faced. Ryan Chyzowski sealed the deal for Toronto, as he found the back of an empty Belleville net in the final minutes.
