Marlies Top Rocket In Family Day Matchup

The Toronto Marlies got back into the win column on Monday evening after defeating the Laval Rocket 6-2 at Scotiabank Arena. The Marlies are now 13-8-2-1 against North Division opponents this season.

In the first period, the Marlies came out firing. Joey Anderson got things started for the Marlies, scoring a power-play goal just over five minutes into the game. Just over two minutes later, it was Anderson who lit the lamp again, this time with a short-handed goal. The scoring didn’t stop there for the Marlies. Both Antti Suomela and Joseph Blandisi added goals before the period was over, giving Toronto a commanding 4-0 lead after one.

In the second, Joseph Duszak extended the Marlies lead to 5-0 with his fourth of the year. Laval managed to get one back before the period was over, thanks to Rafaël Harvey-Pinard.

In the third period, Louie Belpedio added another one for the visitors, but that was all they would get. Kyle Clifford tallied the Marlies sixth goal of the night en route to a 6-2 victory. Michael Hutchinson stood tall in the Marlies crease stopping 25 of the 27 shots he faced.

The Marlies host the Rocket on Wednesday night at Coca-Cola Coliseum. Puck drop is at 7:00pm EST.
