Marlies Take Home Win In Return To Action vs. Belleville

The Toronto Marlies found themselves back in the win column on Thursday night, after defeating the Belleville Senators 5-2 in their return to action.

It was a bit of a slow start to the first period as both teams tried to find their footing again. But, it was Brett Seney who broke the ice first for the Marlies, scoring his team-high 11th goal of the season 15 minutes into the first.

Under 30 seconds into the second frame, Josh Ho-Sang notched his 10th goal of the season on the power play. Just 30 seconds later, Belleville cut the lead in half after Scott Sabourin added one of his own.

In the third period, Antti Suomela tallied his first as a Marlie, then just 23 seconds later, Curtis Douglas extended the Marlies lead to three with his fourth of the year. Rourke Chartier added another for the home side before the frame was over, but Kyle Clifford sealed the deal with the empty net goal late in the frame.

Joseph Woll was stellar in the Marlies crease, stopping 45 of the 47 shots he faced in the game.

The two teams will meet again on both Saturday and Monday as the three game series continues at Coca-Cola Coliseum on Saturday at 3:00pm ET.
