Marlies Split Weekend Series With Wolves

The Toronto Marlies defeated the Chicago Wolves 4-2 on Sunday evening to finish the season series 3-1-0-0 against their Central Division opponent.

In the first period, both teams exchanged chances, but the game remained scoreless after 20 minutes. In the second, David Cotton got the visitors on the board first. But, Bobby McMann responded just over a minute later to tie the game at one. Antti Suomela quickly added another for the home side, and just minutes after scoring his first of the game, McMann followed up with his second of the night, giving the home side a 3-1 lead at the break.

In the third, Nick Robertson scored in his return to the Marlies lineup to add to the lead. Stefan Noesen would add another for Chicago before the final buzzer, but it wasn’t enough as the Marlies brought home their 28th win of the season. Keith Petruzzelli stopped 32 of the 34 shots he faced in his second win of the season.

The Marlies return to action on Tuesday when they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Puck drop is at 7:00pm EST.
