Marlies Split Weekend Series With Amerks’

The Toronto Marlies fell 5-3 to the Rochester Americans on Sunday afternoon, splitting the weekend series. The Marlies are now 14-10-2-1 against North Division opponents and 3-2-0-0 against the Americans.

In the first period, Arttu Ruotsalainen opened the scoring for the visitors, giving them a 1-0 lead heading into the intermission.

In the second period, Brett Murray, Nick Pastujov, and Ruotsalainen all found the back of the net. While Jack Kopacka scored the Marlies lone goal of the period.

In the third period, despite being down by three goals the Marlies made a strong push. Antti Suomela scored his 11th of the season, and Joey Anderson tallied his team-leading 19th of the year to bring the Marlies within two. But, they ultimately came up just short, as the Americans came out on top 5-3.

The Marlies return to action on Wednesday March 2nd when they host the Abbotsford Canucks. Puck drop is at 7:00pm EST.
