The Toronto Marlies fell 6-4 to the Laval Rocket on Wednesday night. The Marlies are now 1-3-0-1 against the Rocket this season.
It was a back-and-forth game between the two North Division rivals. In the first period, Laval came out strong taking the lead just over four minutes into the game. Kyle Clifford scored his second in as many games to tie things up at one. Rafaël Harvey-Pinard made it 2-1 shortly after, but Jack Kopacka responded once again for the Marlies with his fifth of the year. Before the frame was over, Danick Martel gave the visitors the lead 3-2.
In the second, both teams had plenty of chances, but neither team found the back of the net.
In the final frame, Alex Steeves tied things up once again on the power-play with his 15th of the season. The Rocket later found themselves leading the game once more, thanks to a goal from Alexandre Fortin. But the lead was short-lived as Mac Hollowell made it 4-4 with a shot that went off of the Laval defender and in. But, it was Laval who had the last strike. Joël Teasdale gave the visitors the lead late in the third, then Harvey-Pinard secured the win with an empty net goal in the final minute.
The Marlies return to action on Saturday when they head to Rochester for an afternoon game. Puck drop is at 2:35pm EST.
