Marlies Extend Winning Streak To Five Games In Win Over Utica

In the first period, Nick Ritchie, playing in his first game with the Marlies, got the home side on the board with a power-play goal. Later in the frame, Alex Steeves tallied his 13th of the season on the power-play, giving the Marlies a 2-0 lead after the first.

In the middle frame, the Utica Comets came out firing, cutting the Toronto lead in half just 1:24 in thanks to a goal from Fabian Zetterlund. But, the Marlies responded quickly. Joseph Blandisi scored just under two minutes later, then Jack Kopacka followed up with one of his own just over a minute later.

In the third period, the Marlies extended their lead to five goals, thanks to another goal from Blandisi, and another one from Bobby McMann. Alexander Holtz was able to get a shot past Erik Källgren late in the frame to make it 6-2. Källgren stood tall in the Marlies net, stopping 32 of the 34 shots he faced.
