Marlies Drop Close One to Moose

The Toronto Marlies and Manitoba Moose met for the second time in a week for an early start at Coca-Cola Coliseum. After going down by two in the first period, the Marlies were able to claw back to even the score but a late goal from the Moose would be the difference maker as the Marlies saw their five-game point streak snapped.

Manitoba’s Seth Griffith opened the scoring at the 7:00 mark of the first period, capitalizing on their first power play opportunity of the game. Just past the halfway mark of the frame the visiting Moose extended their lead to 2-0 with an unassisted goal from Marko Dano. Dmytro Timashov got the Marlies on the board at 14:16 as he floated a wrist shot over the shoulder of Eric Comrie to cut the deficit. The Marlies would head into the second period down by one.

The Marlies capitalized on an early man-advantage in the second period to even the score 2-2. Adam Brooks potted the tying goal, redirecting a pass from Jeremy Bracco into the back of the net. The score stayed locked at 2-2 heading into the final frame.

Griffith scored his second of the game late in the third period to lift the Moose to a 3-2 win.
