CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars were defeated by the Toronto Marlies 3-0 in front of 5,734 fans on Saturday night at Cedar Park Center. Marlies goalie James Reimer (1-3-1) stopped all 32 Stars shots to notch his first win and shutout of the season. Toronto forward Ryan Hamilton opened the scoring in the first and Joey Crabb added an early goal in the third to secure the win. Stars goalie Brent Krahn (4-4-0) stopped 25 of the 27 shots in the loss. The Stars will host the Chicago Wolves on Wednesday.
The Marlies tallied the first goal midway through the opening period at 10:50. Ryan Hamilton scored with help from Dale Mitchell and Alex Foster, giving Toronto a 1-0 lead after one period of play.
Toronto extended its lead to 2-0 early in the third after a scoreless second period. Winger Joey Crabb blasted a slap shot past Brent Krahn at 2:06 for his third goal of the night. Forward Mike Zigomanis and defenseman Keith Aulie set up Crabb’s third goal of the year. With 38 seconds remaining in regulation, Greg Scott added an empty-net goal for the 3-0 final.
The Stars will host the Chicago Wolves on Wednesday, November 10th at 7:30 pm. Texas will host the Wolves again on Tuesday, November 16th at 7:30 pm. Every Tuesday, fans may bring in any H-E-B store brand non-perishable food product to receive a $5.00 discount off the ticket price.
