Marksmen sign Goaltender Nathan Perry, believes he can make ‘key saves in key situations’

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Marksmen announced today via social media that they have placed Goaltender Alex Murray on waivers. With a vacancy in the Goaltender depth chart, the Marksmen signed Nathan Perry. Perry, a netminder for the Whitby Dunlops in the ACH, will be joining the SPHL ranks for the first time in his career.

Marksmen Head Coach Jesse Kallechy believes bringing in Perry will be great for the young goaltending core.

“We are excited to add a Goaltender of Nathan’s caliber at this point of the season.” Kallechy said to Pro Hockey News. “Nathan is an athletic goaltender who will never give up on a puck, and we hope that he can come in and solidify the position with Dillon (Kelley). As a team, we need to play better in front of our goaltenders, but we feel like Nathan will be able to make the key saves in key situations for us.”

For the past three years, Perry has been playing at Sacred Heart University. During that time, Perry hasn’t had a save percentage lower than .866. Perry’s 2017-2018 season save percentage was his best in his collegiate career, having a .911 save percentage. Perry spent some time in the OHL as well, playing five games for the Kingston Frontenacs including a few playoff games for Kingston.

With the Marksmen on a four game losing streak, they hope bringing Perry in will help with that. Making it to the playoffs four times in his young career, Perry looks to help the Marksmen move up in the SPHL rankings.
