Marchment signs four-year, $18 million contract with Stars

Mason Marchment signed a four-year, $18 million contract with the Dallas Stars on Wednesday. It has an average annual value of $4.5 million.

The 27-year-old forward (6-foot-4, 209 pounds) had NHL career highs in goals (18), assists (29) and points (47) last season with the Florida Panthers. He had one goal in four Stanley Cup Playoff games.

“Mason is a young and talented two-way player that will immediately bolster our lineup,” Stars general manager Jim Nill said. “He possesses offensive skill and has shown he has the size, physicality and grit to make an impact on both sides of the puck.”

Signed as an undrafted free agent by the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 18, 2018, Marchment has 58 points (20 goals, 38 assists) in 91 regular-season games with Florida and Toronto and three goals in 10 playoff games.
