Maple Leafs clip Vegas, 4-3

In Las Vegas, the Golden Knights scored twice in the third period to rally from a two-goal deficit to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night.

William Karlsson and Alex Pietrangelo struck in the third period to get the teams even at 3-3 and force extra time, which resolved nothing.

“At least for me, the physical side is important. You have to take care of your body,” Pietrangelo said. “Take a couple of days to relax and enjoy yourself, but for me, it’s a good mental break. We’ve played a lot of hockey here, it feels like.”

William Nylander scored the only goal in the skills portion of the evening’s affairs for a 4-3 win to the Maple Leafs.

“I just try to see what the goalie is doing,” Nylander said. “You have a couple of moves that you have in the back of your hand and try to stick to one depending on what the goalie is doing. I just tried to see what he gave me and kind of got it up there on the glove side.”

The Golden Knights dropped to 23-14-2.

“I knew I was going to play a lot with some people out,” Pietrangelo said. “I thought, collectively as a group, we did a real good job shutting them down. I know they scored three, but we did a pretty good job as a whole.”

Jack Campbell made 31 saves in the Toronto win.

“We should be a little aggravated by how we’ve let these leads slip away here in these two games and take that aggravation and turn it into motivation,” Toronto head coach Sheldon Keefe said.

The Maple Leafs improved to 23-8-3.

Nylander also scored in regulation to give the Leafs a 1-0 lead.

Vegas’ Keegan Kolesar scored off the power-play to tie the game, 101.

Robin Lehner made 15 saves in the Vegas loss.
