In 2021, we were approached by Manscaped because they were interested in developing a relationship with our podcast and our print side of Pro Hockey News.
To be perfectly honest, I was thrilled to have a major advertiser approach us for a change.
Hitting the proverbial streets and knocking on virtual doors of companies we thought we could attract is a humbling experience when you count up the rejections.
So, last year, when Manscaped made the contact, we made a return pitch, but things did not work out as we had hoped. I was a bit disheartened and thought of the Van Halen song, “Blood and Fire”
“Come back when you’re younger,
Cuz I can feel the thunder,
1-800-GUITAR”
As fate would have it, Manscaped came a calling in early 2022.
The barrier of 2021 had fallen, and we were asked again about our interest.
It’s hard to be coy, when you are about to be gifted with a relevant advertiser.
We weren’t any younger, but the thunder was still there.
Once the agreements were worked out, we received a hefty package from Manscaped.
Inside this box was an array of instruments and accoutrements that were extensive, and really well presented.
There will not be an unboxing video for this posting. Let me say that the number of production values of these unboxing videos during the pandemic bordered on 1970s porn reels.
Hold that thought for later in this review.
First, let’s talk pandemic, and the use of protective masks. Let’s face it (pun alert), the use of masks led to a serious drop off in personal hygiene related to the facial area, nose included.
Manscaped has it all covered. The box included a nose and ear instrument to remove, trim, and control all that disgusting hair growing from nasal and auditory canals. This trimmer is quiet, efficient, and effective is knocking down the jungle growth above the neck. It was a surprise to find this in the box and a welcome one at that.
The quality of the build on this trimmer is excellent. I have not seen a personal grooming instrument as solidly built, or as quiet as this one. This piece of hardware would have been enough, if not for the main event.
Pro Hockey News is in its 21st season of covering hockey, and we have steadfastly maintained a family friendly publication. So, the following will dance around the language pitfalls.
Firstly, read the instructions. The geometry of personal grooming is an essential piece of the task at hand. You are going to wish you had paid attention to geometry and trigonometry as a kid in high school. Fear not, Manscaped has you covered to be uncovered with some simple guidelines.
The trimmer has now replaced everything I used to keep myself looking somewhat human. The blades of the trimmer are excellent, precise, as they need to be, and safe.
By the end, you get the feeling you are standing on a tall mountain top in the middle of a blizzard. (Apologies to York Peppermint patties).
As for the unboxing porn, no video, but a pair of briefs and a t-shirt accompany the Manscaped product line. An entertaining, yet informative, set of documents, and neat toiletry bag for carrying or storing your equipment.
For the trimming behind the mask, the unboxing gives you an idea of the presentation from Manscaped. The tag line of Refining the Gentleman” is appropriate. Soon, we are in playoff season in hockey, and so many of our male followers on PHN will be letting their facial hair grow. Well, that doesn’t, and shouldn’t, mean an unruly outgrowth of birds nest beard. This ear and nose trimmer is a perfect way to stay in the season, and keep neat.
Regardless of your penchant for above the neck grooming, below the neck no longer has an excuse to be unkempt. The unboxed Manscaped delivery was and still is impressive.
So, take it down to the smoothness of a hockey puck, the top and bottom, not the edge.
Manscaped has everything you need to keep trim, neat, and uncovered.
