Andrew Mangiapane of the Calgary Flames was one of 24 restricted free agents who filed for salary arbitration by the 5 p.m. ET deadline Sunday, according to the NHL Players’ Association.
The 26-year-old forward set NHL career highs in goals (35), assists (20) and points (55) in 82 regular-season games last season. He had six points (three goals, three assists) in 12 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Notable players who filed include forwards Jesper Bratt (New Jersey Devils), Kailer Yamamoto (Edmonton Oilers) and Kasperi Kapanen (Pittsburgh Penguins), and goalies Vitek Vanecek (Devils) and Kaapo Kahkonen (San Jose Sharks).
The deadline for club-elected salary arbitration notification is Monday at 5 p.m. ET.
Salary arbitration hearings will be held from July 27-Aug. 11. A player can sign a contract with his current team any time before his hearing.
St. Louis Blues defenseman Niko Mikkola filed for arbitration but signed a one-year contract with the Blues on Sunday to avoid a hearing.
Last offseason, 17 restricted free agents filed for arbitration and two had a team-elected hearing scheduled; each agreed to a contract before his hearing date.
