The 29 year old made himself a real fan favourite in London with the Streatham Redskins thanks to his goals and selfless work rate for the good of the team.

He had of course originally arrived in the UK to play for Cardiff and was a real hit in Wales picking up a league all-star award and getting a call up to the Elite league side before picking up an injury.

The bright lights of London came calling and Scarbrough found himself signing for the capitals oldest and most established team.

“I feel blessed to have had this opportunity to play in two great cities, Cardiff and London, these past three years in the UK” said the winger.

“I’ve made amazing friends and teammates who I’m unbelievably grateful to for enriching my experience here. I truly feel that everyone involved with this team, supporters too, have made this a place I can call home”

At the recent end of season awards, Scarbrough picked up Coaches Player of the Year and Players Player of the Year despite stiff competition from League Player of the Season and top goal scorer Callum Best and goal scoring line mate Steven Fisher.

The Streatham fans and players gave him a rousing reception on the night, in thanks for his services to the team.

“I’m not a fan of good-bye’s. They’re the worst” said Scarbrough, who leaves with many highlights including his appearance on National Television HERE

“I’ve never been able to hold a dry eye after a season’s end. This year may have been the hardest because I knew this could be the last bit of hockey I’ll play abroad in the foreseeable future. That I might not be able to see, let alone skate, with this group of guys again”

“All the romantic kind of things that I’ve put off for the joy of playing a sport that’s taken me around the world”

“Obviously, I hope to go back to my birth state and really take a good crack at this ‘adulthood’ thing. My Microsoft Office skills are flourishing. Life can be funny though, and things can turn around, so don’t think I’ll ever rule out the possibility of coming back to London and SW16. It’s not a hard sell to me”

“To our supporters, management and players:  You are all such a tremendous bunch. I can’t thank you enough for the fun ride it’s been. I really hope this isn’t a long goodbye”

And with that, Scarbrough returns to the land of Schwarzenegger and leaves behind a Streatham team already building for another exciting year of hockey in South London.
