Lombardi Scores In Rockford’s 5-1 Loss to Hershey

Rodrigue was tested early by the visiting Bears, facing high-danger looks early in the first frame. The Bears would eventually break through with a short handed goal from Brett Leason at 10:02 of the first period.

Taige Harding would drop the gloves with Justin Nachbauer to send the BMO Center crowd to their feet at the 14:16 of the opening period.

Hershey would double their lead at the 5:55 mark of the middle period after Grame Clarke set up Matt Strome for his sixth goal of the season. Strome would find the back of the net again at 14:33 giving Hershey a 3-0 advantage.

Clarke would add a power play goal at 17:08 to give the Bears a four-goal advantage in the second period.

Kevin Lombardi would get the IceHogs on the board, finding the back of the net at the 2:18 mark of the third period to give Rockford live. Lombardi’s eight goal of the season would pick up assists from Dmitry Kuzmin and Ryan Mast.

Hershey responded immediately with an Ilya Protas goal to regain the four-goal lead. Rockford ends the season series with a 0-4 mark against the Bears and will now turn their attention to the Grand Rapids Griffins next Wednesday.
