A third period rally by Tampa Bay sent the Lightning past the Philadelphia Flyers Wednesday night, 4-2.
Ryan Callahan and Alex Killorn scored in the third as part of the rally in a 12-second span to stun the Flyers.
“”First period, we took three [penalties] in a row. It takes a lot of energy to kill those. If we stay 5-on-5, we can spread those minutes a little bit more,” Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol said. “In the third period, we took three in a row… that zaps energy, especially on a second night.”
Killorn’s goal tied the game at 2-2/
“I was just driving to the net and Slater misses his shot and it ended up being a fortunate bounce to me,” Killorn said. “It was kind of a tough angle. I am glad it went in.”

Steve Mason took the loss on 25 saves.
“We were pushing hard and they took three penalties in the third,” Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. “Ultimately they are [penalty] killing for so long you have to think that that helped out in the fact that we scored a couple of goals quick.”
Ivan Provorov and Dale Weise were the goal scorers for Philadelphia.
“[The goal] felt great, it was a long-time coming,” Provorov said of his first NHL goal. “For me the most important thing is to play good defense but when I have a chance I can help on offense.”
Nikita Kucherov and Victor Hedman also scored for Tampa Bay.
“They battled back hard in the second, obviously, 22 shots and scored two goals. But at the same time, we knew we wanted to put on a strong effort in the third,” Hedman said. “I like the way we played for most of this game. We stuck with it and we were able to obviously come back and get two big points.”
Andrei Vasilevskiy made 29 saves for Bolts’ win.
