In Anaheim Sunday night, the Tampa Bay Lightning’s Andrei Vasilevskiy made 28 saves to stymie the Ducks in a 2-1 Bolts win.
The win capped a successful swing through California.
“Coming through California is a tough trip, and everybody out East knows that,” Bolts head coach Jon Cooper said of games against the Ducks, Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks. “I was really impressed with the guys’ focus and trying to get this one tonight, and they found a way.”
Vladislav Namestnikov and J.T. Brown scored for Tampa Bay.
“They managed the puck and had control of the puck much more than we did early in the hockey game. We were standing around, watching, and we were playing in awe of them. If you allow that to a skilled group like the Tampa Bay Lightning, they’re going to make us look ordinary, and they did,” Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle said of the Tampa game plan.
Jakob Silfverberg had the lone strike for the Ducks.

John Gibson made 35 saves in taking the loss for the Ducks who dropped to 7-7-3.
Gibson made 17 saves in the first period alone.
“Our goalie held us in the first period,” the Ducks’ Corey Perry said. “He made some big saves for us. That wasn’t the way to play a game against a team like that, but we found a way to claw back into the hockey game. A bounce here and there, it could go either way.”
