In the end, the Boston Bruins had no answers to the Tampa Bay Lightning after their Game 1 win.
The Lightning won four straight, including 3-1, in the series-ending victory Sunday afternoon.
Brayden Point, J.T. Miller and Anton Stralman struck for the Lightning goals.
“It’s good but it will be gratifying if we win two more series,” Lightning forward Ryan Callahan said. “We’ve been here before so the shock and awe of really getting this far really isn’t there. We are happy with our first two series, but there is so much more work to do and we realize that.”
Like the series itself, the Bruins got on the board first with a goal from David Krejci for a 1-0 lead.
“If we’re going to look back throughout the whole season, there’s a lot we can be proud of,” Boston’s Zdeno Chara said. “There’s a lot we can take from this and use as a positive. A lot of people didn’t expect us to be a playoff team [or] a 50-win team.”
Andrei Vasilevskiy made 27 saves in the win.
“They’re a good team,” Vasilevskiy said. “Of course they weren’t going to give up that game just like that. We expected that push and we did a good job handling it.”
Tampa now awaits the winner of the Washington Capitals-Pittsburgh Penguins series.

Tuukka Rask made 19 saves in taking the loss.
“They’re an outstanding team, they took away the second and third chances,” Boston’s Patrice Bergeron said. “Yes, we had some looks, not enough obviously. I also think that there [were] a few things in our zone that we could’ve done better to break out easier and generate a little more offense because of that.”
